GOLDEN EAR : A LIFE OF ITS OWN
The initial question I asked myself was: what happens when a watch is not worn? Does it cease to exist, or can it have a life of its own?
Golden Ear is my answer to that question. I imagined a case that would protect the watch, a Super Carillon, when it wasn’t being worn, and that would wind it every day.
Inside this case, a piezoelectric microphone amplified the sound of the watch, allowing it to chime the hours into the room where the Golden Ear was displayed. The watch continues to live, even when it’s not on the wrist.
GOLDEN EAR: UNE VIE EN SOI
La question que je me suis posée au départ était simple : que devient une montre lorsqu’elle n’est pas portée ? Cesse-t-elle d’exister, ou peut-elle avoir sa propre vie ?
Golden Ear est ma réponse à cette question. J’ai imaginé un écrin capable de protéger la montre, une Super Carillon, lorsqu’elle n’est pas portée, et de la remonter chaque jour.
À l’intérieur, un microphone piézoélectrique amplifiait le son de la montre, lui permettant de sonner les heures dans la pièce où le Golden Ear était exposé. La montre continue ainsi de vivre, même lorsqu’elle n’est pas au poignet.
